  • 2 pounds beef chuck roast, cut into 1-inch strips against the grain

  • 2 teaspoons kosher salt

  • 2 teaspoons coarse black pepper

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

  • ½ medium yellow onion, diced

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 package mushrooms, stems removed and sliced

  • 2 cans (15 oz each) cream of mushroom soup

  • 1 package (2 oz) beefy onion soup mix

  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice

Directions

  1. Prepare Beef: Cut the chuck roast into 1-inch strips and season with kosher salt and black pepper.

  2. Brown the Beef: In a large pot or Dutch oven, melt butter over medium-high heat. Add beef in a single layer and brown on all sides. Remove the beef and set aside.

  3. Sauté Veggies: In the same pot, add diced onion, minced garlic, and sliced mushrooms. Sauté for 5-8 minutes until the onions soften.

  4. Add Soup and Seasoning: Stir in cream of mushroom soup, beefy onion soup mix, Worcestershire sauce, and ground allspice.

  5. Simmer: Return the browned beef to the pot. Stir well to combine and cover. Cook for 25-35 minutes, until the beef is fork-tender. Stir occasionally.

  6. Serve: Serve over egg noodles or mashed potatoes and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
