Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 2¼ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 cup chopped pecans

  • ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (optional)

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, cream butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla extract.

  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.

  5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into the creamed mixture until combined.

  6. Stir in chopped pecans (and chocolate chips, if using).

  7. Drop rounded spoonfuls onto baking sheets.

  8. Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are lightly browned.

  9. Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
